Rim tape advice

I’ve picked up some wheels with nice MA40 rims. I need some rim tapes and was considering using Stans 21mm tape rather than conventional tapes. Has anyone done it?

Re:

Haven't tried it but you will find with a very flat box section rim like the ma2 or ma40, that the tyre is very difficult to mount if the rim tape is too thick.

I would use the Velox 16mm.

You could try Framers Tape. Holds up perfectly and two layers is still thinner than Velox.

I use Specialized Rim Strip for everything except where the spoke bed is so wide that the edges of the spoke holes show, in which case I'll get wider tape.

Re:

Yes Specialized they dont stay damp during the winter. Thin as well Stans or any other tape is ok but two layers for road pressure. Its more expensive than Specialized they’re £1.50 each usually.

When the MA 40 rims first came out "Jantex" pproduced a tape especially for the job don't know if it's still produced
