Just acquired a british eagle touring bike it has not been stored well. i had to soak it in release oil for a week before it would even think about coming apart. got it striped yesterday.

Looks a decent project if you like a challenge! Where has it been stored?!

Any idea why the top of the seat stay has rusted like that?
 
Stored outside the owner had several bikes and had to move into a flat so no storage. He left them in a friends garden. there was a moulton in the collection which i shall restore and as i am a welshman i thought i had better restore the eagle as it was made in Newtown powys, The rusty bit is a fitting brazed into the tube i think

it is striped now i soaked it in release oil for a week. It came apart quite well. in my blast cab now

Other than the top of that right hand rear stay looks like it should be quite sound under the paint.
 
Thats an interesting one as they're normally a dark grey.

That could also be the production line brother of my British Eagle 'The Bike'

I had one of these and found the bottom bracket way too low

That looks the same bike triple on the front i believe earlier ones had a double on the front enjoying learning about them a good pedigree with the association with Barry hoban cool bike i think. and made in wales LOL.
