Re:

You're right! I was not accurate. This color is called by Pinarello "Bordeaux" - an another wine country ;)
I looked it up, in the '87 catalog it was still featured but in a very peripheral role. And there was no option already at Montello.
You mean this "burgundy" color here at post #147, right?

Yes, that's the real burgundy, the Cromovelato

The fork shaft, indeed has the proper SLX ribs. But someone told me that this is no hint of actually being a SLX frame since SLX tubes with ribs were used on most forks
In the '70s-'80s all Columbus tube set had spiral ribs in the steerer tube inside. This is one help to distinguish Columbus from Reynolds. (The other is the ovalization of the front fork tubes.)
Is the bridgeless BB with the reinforcing triangles guaranteeing a Montello? Are there ANY other models, that carry that BB? Besides the very later early 90s Gavia with TSX tubes?
I think for the 80s, yes. Gavia has an another seat stay engraving type "pinarello", not"GPT".

I was always wondering if this could also be a Prestige - which I highly doubt so far.
The Prestige is characterized by the hidden front and rear gear cable routing. But this is a another story... With interesting exceptions.

Hi,

Heres a 1988 or 1989 Pinarello Catalogue excerpt with color option. Mine would be the "Rosso Trasparenti Metallizzati":

"Rosso" - OK, "Metallizzati" - OK, but "Trasparenti" -?
This "Bordeaux" I do not feel transparent. I have a Super Record frame from '81-'82 similar metallic but green, it does not seem transparent to me either.
Which is transparent to me, these are (true, it's not metallic):

It is a difficult question to judge this only from photographs. Many times the change in the direction of the falling light is another tone. I once tried to set my Bianchi's celeste with a detailed Pantone scale. In the shadows, it was a good thing to choose. Then I took it to the direct sunshine and another color pattern resembled it.

Checked the BB today! Et Voilà! Very nice SLX tubing :) Montello all the way! I am happy :D Now I am sure, this must be one of the very earliest Montellos, ever made!

New parts! The NOS Cinelli Volare SLX saddle from the 80s a a real highlight for me. Always loved it very much. And I am thinking about polishing the steerer lugs to chrome, since the paint is very loose there anyways and there are already a lot of chips fallen off. What do you think?

finally I got around to continue on the Montello. Some major progress. I hope it will be finished next week! First, the Campagnolo Record hubs with Campa Omega Hardox rims wheelset is complete and ready:
