Eroica Britannia 2018

Hi All
Just back from EB this weekend. Some great bikes on show as always. I've done the past 4 years and I think this will be my last for a while. It has become less about bikes over the past couple of years and more "lifestyle". As usual it was eye wateringly expensive. The turn out was less than last year and speaking to the food stall operators, some said they would lose money after paying their £2.5K rent for the weekend.

On the up side, I met some great guys there and there is always a great mix of authentic original bikes as well as the show ponies.

Amyone else go?

Re:

Yesterday was my hiking day in the Peaks, so no riding, but saw loads come up Rushup from Chapel-en-le-Frith. Looked like some nice machines.
Saw one on a BMX
Felt sorry for the couple pushing the tandem up rushup when there was still miles to walk.

Ahh..I wondered why there were so many nice old bikes on the back of camper vans on the M1 this morning...

All the best,

had a good chat to the BMX guy - he did 60 miles (i think with a full face helmet)

My missus did a lot of festivals and shows, even some 2012 Olympic stuff and was never ever charged that much.

Thats Glastonbury pricing!

Was at the event again this year. Overall enjoyed it, but may well take a break next year. There are always the mix of good and bad points about this event.

Met lots of my fellow Carlton fans and overall had a good time. Rode an 18-speed Corsa around the 60 mile route, no pushing at all and even got up the Middleton inclines...

Ill grab a few images when I can and post them here.

A few images form the weekend...

I was there this year.
Certainly felt more expensive an 'lifestyle' than in previous editions.

This was my first at the new location.
Missed Bakewell but understood why it moved.

Went with a friend and we rode together all the way around on the social 30 miler.
Was great fun!
Probably wouldn't do it every-year thou.
from the cost element. We spent 300 quid on a cottage for 3 nights and it was a 4 hour drive each way.
