Giant TCR 1 1998

Dirt Disciple
Hi all,

Just thought I would start a thread to document my upcoming project.
I have managed to get my hands on a 1998 Giant TCR bike that has been converted to a TT bike.
My plan is to strip it and rebuild it to the original spec (as much as possible) with a few tweaks.
I'm not a big fan of the original stem so I plan to use a traditional stem.
I also I don't like the original carbon wheels so will be going with something from that era.

I have attached a picture for from the original sales brochure as a teaser.

Pics of my build will follow shortly.

Alan

Re:

So another bit of work done today.

Bars and stem on, went with a NOS 3T bar I had and a NOS 3T Status stem.
The original adjustable stems where heavy and apparently flexed.

Also installed a non branded carbon seatpost as the Mike Burrows wont is just to big for me.
Also it very hard to get a good set Ultegra shifters so gone with a set of good R600 shifters.

Looks fantastic - I really love the color too. I started with a 2000 Koga Miyata steel frame for my road bike build, and bought all the components (Ultegra 9 spd) 2nd hand. Bike is very fast and light (19lbs). I love the TCRs from that era, yours should make a very agile and fun rider. :)

And here's the finished build.
