Retro paint on modern carbon frames? Yeah o Nay?

Just wondering, anyone done it? any opinions? Leave the retro designs to thin steel tubes, or can they be made to work on modern carbon?

More specifically, I'm having a hard time getting over the idea of painting my 2006 pinarello paris carbon in one of my all time favourite "retro" paint schemes  It's not that I don't like the paint it has now, more just a "why not?" type of thought... will I love it? regret it?

anyone got any other examples?

I'm thinking of painting this (not mine pictured, but quite similar)

like this (pic of jules_b's bike, hope he doesn't mind!)

I think it's a great idea and something I've wanted to do for years. The suggested colour scheme is the Pug 653 Athena as I'm sure you know, I'd have to go with the same paint and an 11 speed Athena group, in silver of course
