I'll be honest I'd never heard of thanet before and as it was so close it came up on a random eBay search. I couldn't believe it was a little over £500 when I first saw it, let alone the finish price.
Again, it appears I have an awful lot to learn :)


 
 
I know 3 people owning a Silverlight and riding them (with care). All of those were way more expensive than a grand, but in better condition though.

It's one of those iconic frame designs from the 1930s-1950s and has a certain appeal to collectors.
Just like the Paris Galibier, Baines Whirlwind, Saxon Twin Tube, Curly Hetchins, Diadrant Bates, Curved Jack Taylor, etc...

A high price doesn't necessarily mean it's a good ride though ;)
