Putting boiling water on the frame in that location might give you a little bit of assistance too..

Yep-Plus Gas and a little warmth will help-soak the pivot in the 'Gas for a good while. It might help to grip the pivot AND the hex to unscrew it turning them both together as they may be seized to each other anyway.
I have NOS replacements if you need them :D

I'd recommend some heat to shock it (plumber's freezer spray first, or even better a couple of hours in a deep freeze - then boiling water over it).

Then a week of plus gas - a squirt in the morning and evening.

:Finally: mount in a vice and undo.

As said, don't go mad. Firm, controlled, increasing pressure and no lugging it about. IF anything looks like it's slipping, STOP tighten and re-try.

Will be calling at my parents this weekend to use my Dads work bench and vice, he has sorted me some plus gas too :D

Justbackdated will be in touch if I get it removed.
