Onza HO brake question

I've got 3 pairs of HO brakes, on one set the post (ie the rod that the holder cams clamp to) is shorter than the other two. The longer ones are definately rear brakes. Are the shorter ones fronts or did Onza change the design?

I can't see why the fronts would be shorter than the rears?
 
:idea: shorts are rears and longs are fronts if i remember right.

I can't see the reason why either :?
 
well i've got some boxed NOS rears and they're longer...

but i could see the logic if it was the fronts that were longer, more leverage so more stopping power. why on earth you'd deliberately have less leverage? weight reduction? that really would be a marginal saving!
 
I am pretty sure the longer ones are the fronts,
I had some off ebay a few years back that were short rears and this picci is from the firstflight site showing them with the appropriate box ➡️

yeah, i think you're right. i think the ones i got that were supposedly NOS were put in the wrong box.

fortunatelty between the three pairs i've got i have enough of the right bits to make a correct set of front/rears.

Can I just hijack this thread briefly to ask another HO question?

Does anyone have a pair of HO straddle cables pretty please? :D

Trimmed down brake cables are the same thing... what you really need are the adjustable lugs.
