Frame numbers Rocky Mountain

My 2002 RM Element TSc has serial number 2002 010319 and I believe this means 2002 model year (or manufacture date, don't know which), 01 = Element and 0319 = 319th one made. I don't know whether all RMs have a similar format.

my 92 blizzard serial seems to be 19112 9335, and i distinctly recall my Cirrus serial starting with "Y". So I don't think Rocky has used consistent serial numbering method for their frames.

EDIT to add a serial database
EDIT

~ Ixxxxxxxx for a 1992 Fusion
I= Ishiwata ?

~ RMxxxx for a 1991 Altitude
RM = Rocky Mountain ?

I belive
~ RMBxxxx for circa 90's Rocky Mountain Blizzard

We did start a topic a while back, would need to look for it.

YA16884 = Cirrus early
I9100019 1993 Equipe
I9108041 1992 Equipe

Seems they can date early Altitudes

And anyone on here or anywhere else with one has never been able to give me their Altitude numbers or not responded.

Pics tend to give years away and often the model depending on the state of it.

SilverFish can maybe help (for UK folk) though I've had initial good contact, but lack of anything after that.

Hi,
Guess there's no system (we know of) indeed ! My 2 cents.

'94 TiBolt 17,5" : RM17xxx
'96 Blizzard 17,5" : B 175 T 9507 xxxx
'97 Element TO 16,5" : E17xxx

TiBolt : (R)ocky (M)ountain, (17),5". Since the frame was welded by Sandvik ,in that period they supplied other brands with Ti frames too, it makes sence to tag prefab bottom brackets with information about brandspecific tubesets/geometry. xxx could be serial#.

Blizzard : (B)lizzard , (17),5". (T)ange tubing welded in july 95 ? xxxx could be serial#.

Element : (E)lement , (17) could mean 16,5" since the measurement on FS frames differed from HT ? xxx could be serial#

Cheers,
Ben
