What are these called?

Never seen them in my life, but look like they should be called.

Try a SingleSpeed specialist, don't think they are a retro gadget though.
 
I've seen them before but can't remember their name - eccentric hub I think. Maybe like ENO?

I've tried searching hub/axle/dropout/spacer/thingy's ...no joy so far...I'm looking up some different single speed shops and a few forums.. I imagine them to be something that fits onto the axle, comes in pairs and is hopefully quite cheap! The problem I'm having is my V-brake cable hits the front tyre, especially with the 2.4's I want to run. I'm hoping to adapt these spacer things and use them on the front, to lift the fork up, away from the wheel. It's almost like the V bosses on my old RC30's are down too low... the brake block is adjusted up as high as it can go... maybe someone has a better :idea: how to fix this?

Looking at the shape of that it definately seems to be a spacer that is designed to slide in horizontal drops

I'd say the best/cleanest solution is to swap the forks
 
Looks like it's partly a function of a wide rim, meaning you have to have the v arms in a wider position which therefore drops the cable lower over the tyre. Any way you can bring the arms closer to the rim or swap rims to a narrower one?
 
I've thought about all of these things.. canti's would do it, or maybe some longer V-brakes if anyone knows of any? but I do like these XTR one's and my forks are way too nice to get rid of!!... looking at the rims though they are a pretty deep profile, my new wheels might work out better hopefully

...see in the picture the dropout is quite long so theres room for some kind of spacer, I'd have to adapt something and it would still be safe enough to ride on (maybe) :shock:

You can't buy them seperately, only as part of a hub designed to use them as they sit on the inside of the drop out. If you fitted them to a normal hub then they would make your hub width too large. The only way to fit them would be to remove the dropout spacers on your hub and as every hub is slightly different (ie some cup and cone, some sealed etc) it would be impossible for a company to make ones to fit any hub.

Personally I would ensure that the small V brake block spacers are on the inside of the arm and the large on the outside to bring the arms in close and get rid on the rubber gator (does nothing really)
