Running Cooks cranks on the Zaskar required a stupidly long bottom bracket axle, bad front mech placement and usually dodgy shifting.

Swap out to an M900, nice short BB axle, less flex and instantly crisp shifting.

I hate Shimanos monopoly, but I can't help but love the fact that it just works.

It's only a monopoly if it's the lastest. Retro never profits the CORPORATION and the lack of a sale means it makes a loss.
