Hi, I have finally got round to restoring my prized originak Kona Cinder cone which i bought when they first came out in i think 1989. I have all the original parts for the bike apart from the wheels, but the main reason for the post is, I am having problems with the U brake. The springs are tired so i cannot get it to work properly. Any ideas what i can either fix it or use to replace it?

Are you preloading the springs correctly when you tighten down the fixing bolts? Pull the brake pads out as far as possible from the rim ( push the actuating arms down towards the tyre) before nipping up the bolts - this should give you a positive spring return.
