Hey, With V brakes are you meant to have a little pin sticking out to stick into one of the three holes? And is it possible for these to brake off?

Yes.. As far as I know most v'brakes have this pin, (part of the spring) usually its to adjust the overall tension of the brake, via the 3 holes on the frame/forks.

I have never had one break in 20 odd years so cant see it breaking off.. :)

Hope this helps.. :)

Would they work without them?

Because i have just reviced a pair of brakes and they are not here, so wanted to check before i complained

It does depend on the brakes , as some do not have the pin that protrudes out from the arm, which brakeset is it ?

:)

Mmm not sure on these, but I the avid's I have had in the past have had the pin sticking out.. might be time for someone else to offer some advice..

A photo of the brake would help though... :)

Here we go: Theres a small mark where i expected the pin to be, so thats why i think it has broken off

It might be you just need a new spring fella, have you seen if the spring part comes out of the brake arm ?

I have loads of springs spare in the workshop , which you could have, so might be able to salvage them ;)
