Retro content in Singletrack

It's a good read this month, really well written...but...
I'm not sure about the comparision between the Kona and the Trek. I can't help feeling he's missing the point a little bit.
I've ridden my Giant Trance and 1990 Kona Fire Mountain back to back on the same singletrack and they were both were great fun. The Trance let me plough my way through with speed and secrurity, the Kona was a balls out, sideways sliding adventure.
Both gwere reat fun because they were bikes going fast in the woods!
And to suggest that a 1990's Kona can't 'rail a berm' is just nonsense, that's what they are best at!
