Puzzled :?

What chain would be a best bet for a XT 8sp rear cassette (HG 739) and middleburn front rings?

SRAM 850
Shimano IG70

Hmmmm

Help

I have never had a happy experience with Shimano chains. They are very smooth and silent, but this seems to be achieved at the expense of durability.
SRAM ones have always lasted longer for me.

I would go for SRAM: durable and no problem rejoining the chain after splitting (Shimano requires a special pin)

If you want durable, light and bling, go for KMC. (costs a bit more though)

I bought a Shimano HG40 chain and it was worn out in 6 weeks normal riding on Deore Lx.

Cf my 2008 Jamis Road bike (Sora) uses a KMC Z82 chain and it has done 4000km and still under 1/16th inch wear.

Today I searched for a KMC supplier and mentioned the Shimano chain. The LBS (who has no axe to grind) noted Shimano QC has gone to pot in their Sg factory, it's well known Shimano chains and BBs are "soft".

Trek's reputation has plummeted due to using "soft" BB from the Sg Shimano factory.

So I ordered 2 KMC Z82 chains, and will opt for a VP BB when I need one.
LBS said VP BBs are better than Shimano, since Sg factory tanked.

Avoid Shimano until they raise their QC.

Just put a KMC X8-99 on my bike and it rides nicely.
About £12 and the cheaper X8-93 is about £8 delivered at online shops (CRC). ebay could be cheaper
