r.i.p he was a great man. remember the night before a race once we all went out, think it was either swansea or thetford and we ended up in an indian. there was loads of us and we all ate a ton. schmoo paid for the lot, then, you won't beleive it, passed the bloody jelly worms round!
he was unique and had a big part in the british mountain bike boom.

Perhaps we should have a 'Twenty Years Ago' theme for the Retrobike show stand at Mountain Mayhem this year...

Just watched all five back to back.. great stuff.. I feel for Fred though. Good skills riding on a puncture for as long as he did!

I think it was called something like the Carlsberg UK open championship thus it was open to non UK residents- the British Championships was run as a seperate series.

I missed out on this one but saw the Aviemore race in 1990 on ITV...won by Mike Kluger, Kloser coming in a close 2nd.....footage was just as ace!!!

Gotta love Phil Ligget.... :wink:

Not seen them do an Aviemore race for years....shame it looked a cracking course!!!
