Pace RC200 F5 Seatport Diameter

Hi,

Does anyone you know what diameter the F5 seatpost is?

Mine is a shimmed 27.2mm USE and if I measure the frame or shim with my vernier its anywhere between 28.6mm and 29.4mm.

I want to get a new metal shim as the USE plastic on is not very secure.

Apparently it is not recommended to use USE seatposts and shims in Pace frames. :shock:

Thats right. Because the seat clamp is bolted to the top of the frame, a lot of stress is concentrated there which is relieved by having a seatpost of the correct diameter. A USE shim is too short to relieve this stress.

Also the creaking would drive you mad.... It does with a correctly fitting seatpost anyway

osh tosh and flibberty

Been using a USE seatpost with a Pace shim since my bike was but a box of components in the mechanics hands. No problems and no creaks. Looks rather fetching too.
