Is there a way to tell if this is titanium?

I have a Specialized stem that I had thought was probably aluminum but just recently I noticed that it was darker in tone than my polished aluminum parts and began to wonder if it might be titanium. Is there some kind of scratch test or any other way to tell? Here's a picture (not much help I know.)

To me it looks that like with Al the face plate would be not that thin.

I'd put money on that being ti - as Mel says, the faceplate is too thin to be alu.

It wont scratch if its Alu. And a ping test should sort it too, should have a nice chime to it, not a dull thud like alu!!!

Leave it out in the rain for a few days. If it corrodes then it's not Ti.

I have got one exactly the same as that and it is deffo made from Ti.
