Any wheel builders here

bomberman

Dirt Disciple
I'm building up a custom bomber and I'm getting the rims and hubs coated.
I've built one set of wheels before but they're not dead straight and I want my new ones to be spot on.
If anyone could offer their help I'd be grateful

heres a few tips guy

1) make sure your spokes are the correct length for your hub rim combo

www.dtswiss.com/spokescalc/welcome.aspx?language=en-9k

2) its all in the spoke tension, equal tension = straight wheels.

3) ill usually use the spoke thread as a guide when fitting the nipples
get them all approx the same then equal nipple turns- a half or 1 at a time till the nipples contact the rim.

4) add one or two turns to take out slack then pop on jig and roughly true
and round the wheel...

5) now work from spoke to spoke feeling the tension and adjust till all equal... no mega tight and no slack.. its worth while at this point to set
the dish.

6) Start to tension her up a turn at a time with periodic jig true and round checks.

7) when she is about done relive the spoke wind up by stressing the rim/hub.

 give her a final tension true round check and she be ready to rock
