I use a 1" - 1 1/8" shim to take an OS stem. I've just bought some Cinelli Angel Tribars which are 'ahead' style only and will have to use one with them too.

BikePimp Retro Guru Dec 12, 2008 #7 Profile makes a nice one that goes from a 1" quill insert to a 1 1/8" threadless. I use one on my road bike. Got more choices in stems now.
