I have a steel stem, which was bent. When fitted with bars they ran off i.e one end lower than the other. Took the stem and bars to work and intended to heat the body of the stem and pull back inline. Stuck it in a vice and managed to bend the stem back to position using brute force and ignorance, tbh not that much brute force was required.
So my question is were BITD steel stems a bit rubbery anyway and with the stem in a vice the forces exerted on it were more focused than they would be on the trail, should I be worried or just use it ? Quite like the stem and a replacement is hard to find as its the kind of thing folks bin as worthless rather than keep.
Whadaya think?
