Anyone live near Buxton?

I live in Derby, but ride in the Peak from time to time (not as often as I would like, of course!) 
There are a few others here who ride in the Peak. This book's good:

Very near Buxton. There is absolutely positively no riding of any kind in the Peak District at all. Rubbish in fact. Don't bother visiting, or living there at all. It's all pants. The guide books are a waste of money too (VG White and Dark Peak, two Cicerone guides are especially pants).
Move to London, lots of top notch Mountain bike routes there. Beer is better, people friendlier, houses cheaper etc etc
Of course this could all just be subterfuge to keep the Peak (note Peak and NOT PeakS) quiet for local people.
