7 speed sti?

I have just picked up some sora 7 speed sti levers really cheap.

Using them on a cross build.

Question: will these work ok with any 8 speed 9 speed parts? I know there are not enough clicks but not worried about using whole range on cassette.

7 and 8 speed cassette have the same space between the rings so you van use a 7 speed sti on a 8 speed cassette.
 
I'd say deffo not with a 9 speed cassette and maybe with an 8!!!!!

Have used 8 speed Ultegra STI on a 7 speed cassette for years with no issues but that doesn't really help, does it!!!!

My best advice is to try for yourself, forge you own path and make your own magic!

Besides, what's the worst that can happen......

Definately with 8! And definately NOT with 9, spece is smaller.

A 7 speed body is smaller. 8/9/10 speed bodies are a bit wider. Spaces between the 8/9/10 are logically smaller because it has to fit more rings in the same range.
