I'm having trouble threading cantilever brake mounts onto an old pair of Italian suspension forks. They are the ones that came with the forks.

The right side has gone on with no trouble, but I can't for love nor money get the left mount on.

What better place to ask for advice than here , so I'm asking for help and advice from the experienced rb crowd.

Thanks guys

Have they been freshly painted?
Might be some in the thread/obstructing the thread?

No they are as they were.
This is the first time I've done anything with them since buying off here

Were they in the forks , or just with them? Are the threads damaged from cross threading?
No they weren't in the forks, just loose.
It threads on so far and then it gets tight.

Just been through the whole brake post mounts issue myself! I presume you've tried the other post in difficult one? Just also worth checking the thread sizes. Typically M8 on the old bikes, but on mine they're 5-16th UNC and whilst an 8mm post will start screwing into a 5-16th UNC hole, it'll bind pretty quickly.

If you want a source of break posts (8mm, 10mm and 5-16th UNC) check these guys out: https://brake-stuff.de/en/canti-studs/
