Why do we delude ourselves?

Why is it...

We buy an old bike convinced it will be a cheapy run around, no work required, and it instantly turns into the next project?

Put the spanner down and log off ebay... it's fine as it is.

It could be worse I suppose, plenty other vices out there!

Although that said, if the missus finds out about the secret project I'm hiding at work I'm dead lol.

Know what you mean, no such thing as a hack bike for me, even that would cost a fortune :)

I fear my Clockwork may suffer over the winter though :(

I'm exactly the same with cars too, cant leave anything alone

I think we could get it recognised as an illness,

that way we could get bits on prescription ;)

Chris.

I tried to make my LTS a 'cheap and cheerful' bike, but the minute I got the frame it become a labour of love

The Tempest was supposed to be a cheap 'lets see if I like it first' rigid project. Didnt happen

Maybe we're all just bike snobs? I'll admit I am, I can't run lower than Deore LX!

Ah, that would be nice.

"I'm going to give you some carbon handlebars this month, see how you get on with those."

Yeah guilty as charged.
Managed to get a cheap, slightly knackered Stumpjumper, which was singlespeeded, then resprayed. Then sold for a Bonty which now has Chris King wheels, headset on the way, rf turbines, syncros pin.....
Its supposed to be my winter hack  Oops
