Seat post struck in frame

I have a frame with a seat post struck in it. Looks like rust is the problem. Any idea how to get the post out of the frame? Simply twisting the seat won't do it.

Thanks!

Hi, there are a few methods you could try, oil, hot/cold or hacksaw for starters, could you tell us what the frame and seatpost are made of?

Maybe get the post moved to the general chat section also.

Hi for steel frame
turn the bike upside down .
remove a bolt in seat tube
fill seat tube with plus-gas or other good penetrating oil
leave for a day
turn bike over
and with pipe grippers and length of scaffold
support frame and try to get some movement
helps with extra person ..

A magnet would tell you if its steel or not,
if the post is seized in frame
chances are it will get quite scratched, using pipe gripper method
if you have access to bench vice
secure the seat post in vice
and use the frame as leverage .
if this doesn't works
i recommend a nice cup of tea.
as it could get extreme

Buy a plumbers pipe freeze kit from B&Q (£15) freeze the seat post, hold it upside down in a vice, heat the seat tube with heat gun/wifes haidryer (when shes out), twist and lift and relax.........
