I'm no GT expert but I thought all Zaskars were made in USA? Even the 92 GT catalog say's they are handcrafted at Huntington Beach HQ in CA.
But my 92 Zaskar LE frame has this sticker on the headtube, is a previous owner having a laugh?

Re: Were Zaskar LE frames made in Japan?

From what I know they were all made in the states until the late 90s, then they went overseas. Don't remember hearing about Japan but I would have thought it was jist a sticker someone else thought was cool - I used to put Mint Sauce stickers on mine :D

Someonr will be along in a bit to correct my half remembered facts, hopefully:D

Re:

All made in USA up until late nineties.

You sure it’s a zaskar? Many people have made that mistake before. Flat end cap , 6061?

Nice! Green rims are very cool as well. Although your Mags seem in need of love (awards self prize for stating the obvious). I used to run my mags with a Hope hub and a gorrilla brake booster back in the day, they used to get a bit floppy otherwise!

Re:

Yeah, the Mags need a full strip down and respray. The wheels are just temporary to keep it as a rolling chassis while I build up the M231's.
