Marin Muirwoods any good?

Re:

If you have a suitable purpose in mind for it, then yes. I'm not sure there's a lot of point otherwise. £50 is a fair price for one in good condition, so you could probably sell it on and get your money back if you don't like it.

Oh, some of you Retrobikers are a tough bunch as far as the old Muirwoods is concerned. By 1995, it was 12kg and no longer Marin's lowest quality bike: it was about third from the bottom and boasted Shimano's equally not-quite-bottom Alivio group set. Not ideal for actual mountain biking but for getting around the streets of London . . . It's only fifty quid lost when it gets nicked.

Re:

Yes.

I have had many steel bikes and the marins ride good.

Good frame , but change some of the parts.

If it was like this one with a full cro-mo frame then why not but the early ones were not so nice

Re:

I have had a few early-mid 90s Marins, I always find the steering feels slow and a bit ponderous. For commuting fine, otherwise I’d say no.

Re:

What is the Marin Food Chain then?

Had a 95 Bear Valley SE that I quite liked. STX RC and strange brakes?

Where does it all sit in the scheme of things?
