My '92 Trek 950 came with the below chainsuck plate. Not sure if it was badly designed or badly installed, but what it actually did was to make it harder to release the chain each time it got sucked.
I wanted to remove it but my LBS said I shouldn't or I would lose the Trek frame warranty. A couple years later, as my shifting technique improved and I listened less to my LBS, I just removed it and has been lying in a drawer since, never missed.
Should I keep it? Or can I throw it away? Currently doing a clean-up at home of unwanted stuff, including bikey stuff. I don't see Trek being picky about it if I ever claim a warranty on a now 26 year-old frame.
