Do we have a timeline of innovations and when they were first/last offered on flag ship models?

ie

clipless pedals
Front Sus
Full sus
cantis
v's
disc's

and so on?

Re:

Given the pace of "new and improved" innovations and the ever increasing number of "new standards" introduced over the past few years that list is going to get very busy after around 2005-ish. :D

Tricky as many 'innovations' came from decades earlier.

For instance, shimano had a hydraulic disc brake in the 1970's.

Re:

They still do, but you have to use TWBM.

I've never thought the timeline was all that though to be honest - it's fairly broad with a few innacuracies and generalisations... But it's a good starting point, certainly.

Re:

MOMBAT currently at http://mombatbicycles.com/MOMBAT/BikeHi ... eline.html for the mentioned timeline and hit the History section for some more time consuming goodness.

He generally worked on when it appeared in the market now in model years (like most people and catalogues/magazines* worked).

It's a nice reference and made for the magazines and info he had.

Of course feel free to browse the Archive on here and hit the catalogues etc.

*Magazines have their own made up months, often out by two months compared to your normal calendar ;-)

These are all 90/91 ish
clipless pedals
Front Sus
Full sus
And still there today.

This has been a long time
cantis
But dropped around the time these became the norm in 1996/7
v's

Which gave way to these in late 90s early 00s
disc's
And still used now.

Just recently mechanical shifter dooberies have given way to electric shifter dooberies. Mainly as they can charge you a lot more ;-)

7speed gave way to 8speed in 1992
Which gave way to 9speed in 1999
It been that way ever since still 9speed but they seem to have slapped two extra chainrings on them for some reason, perhaps because they got confused as the front seems to be missing two as well.
