Cleaning aluminium oxide off tan wall tires

Hi alll. Ive just found a pair of the widest version of Smokes!
95% of tread left but absolutely thick with black aluminium oxide.
Is it just a case of soapy water and elbow grease or is there a better way of cleaning them?
Posted them in what's it worth thread as I will be selling them.
Thanks
Kes

A stiff letter to the Times

Or warm water and some washing powder/ carpet cleaner, anything with 'optical brighteners' in.

Sometimes I spray WD40 on first to breakdown some of the dirt, then use loads of washing up liquid.

Either, either or but make sure you dont end up breaking down the flimsy sidewall structure.

By the way, what's the cheapest way to post metal beaded tyres please?
Thanks

Hermes is £3.99 up to 2kg. I simply wrap in cling film and tape a ticket to it
