I have a pair of 7 speed xc pro shifters which work fine in friction mode, but the dial that allows indexing to engage won't budge. I'd like to either fix it, or replace the shifter workings with an 8 speed set up I have kicking about. The 8 speed works fine but a previous owner stripped the paint.
Has anyone got any experience in taking these apart? I'd like to give it a go.
From what's visible, it looks like there is a tiny circlip on top of the plastic cover (which looks like it will be fiddly to remove). What's underneath I've no idea and I'd like to be armed with what's inside and what to do with it before I pop it open.
