Not singlespeed, it's my Shimano Alfine geared all purpose Karakoram Elite.

Fortunately nothing else bruised, as it was trying to pull away from stationary.

So we people with unbroken (yet!) PBC cranks hope that yours only broke because it was used for decades on a commuter bike which never got cleaned and all the salt from the streets in winter (do you have that in the UK?) has eaten your cranks.

Sorry to say I have never used that bike when there has been salt on the streets, it was due to be carefully put away in a warm garage until April any day now. I use a titanium commuter through the winter. It is also regularly cleaned and serviced, but I do cover quite a lot of miles, so it could have just been fatigue over a long period.
