So what are this years ebay/amazon.alibaba/etc bargain specials for bike lights.

I see 'USB' lights are filtering in, even in the good old powerpack versions.
That was from a quick Amazon search (I was looking for a 4.2V battery pack as my old one is on it's last legs so only left with my 8.4V ones)

Anything caught your eye, now the nights are darker.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07 ... OGI2&psc=1 £30 (more then I would normally spend which is less than £20 ;-))

Can use and in fact charge USB devices if you suddenly need to or have a few 10Ah LiPo usb p-packs like me

over the stem mounting by the looks of it, no more arguing with the brakes and shifter cables and adjusters (with my 'Hope' mounts setups)

ppack looks wide though, perhaps wobbly ?

Do you remember the days of Dr. S discussing these things?

Anyway, the cheap stuff from China is now just bonkers. I wouldnt use it for commuting in the rain but for warm September nights, these on your rear stays along with another seatpost light just silly - rechargeable, pennies and very bright

Two of these have been more than adequate in the twilight last spring - I was lucky enough to get them for 99p

Yep, still using my 'Rose' light, that the 4.2V pack, mainly only gone due to water damage (my fault).

We need an yearly thread of course.

Commuter the COB light seem brilliant (for the trails a pain as if you are behind you can see nothing else, why people use rear lights out on the trails I don't know)

Re:

Just don't use trail lights on the road - with this sort of output and no horizontal cut-off to the beam, you'll be dazzling everyone. I get peds on psyclepaths moaning* about my Hope Vision One when it's on low power, and these things are about 100x brighter.

*of course, lots of people just hate cyclists

Re:

My big problem with those ones that use the rubber elastic bands to grip your handlebars, is that they don't really grip them.

IME, they end up pointing up and blinding other people, or pointing directly down and lighting up your front wheel.

I bought a Hope universal mount and attached my light to that instead.

I've heard a few people mention this, but it's never been an issue for me at all with the rubber bands, and I've used them on all sorts of different bars and in different positions.

I wonder whether t's an historic problem which has been addressed by the manufacturers in the last year or so? I bought mine July-ish last year.
