...been eyeing this sitting in someone's front garden the next street over for the past couple of months, hasn't turned a wheel in that time so asked the lady yesterday if it was hers, she said it was her husbands old bike and was to be collected by the council ages ago but they never bothered so it was mine if I wanted it. Looks purdy good with mostly XTR and XT stuff (yay!), the welding is silly-neat all over and the top and down tubes are kinda egg / pear shaped, the rear stays are more square....has three bottle cage mounts and the serial number begins M6 if that helps at all (at all)?

What d'yees reckon? Not a clue here...

Ta, P.

Re: What be this free mystery machne then?

Ned and Ethel?

Or Designed and engineered?

Re: What be this free mystery machne then?

Those chainstays look unusually deep - and is the 'PLUSH' sticker a clue?

What model numbers are the XTR/XT parts - that might help date it.

Re:

Xtr 952 Rear mech, Xtr 950 Brakes, XT 750 combined shifter / brake levers....think the Plush sticker was added on, had the usual Hope ones on it too...

Re:

Cranks do indeed suck...don't THINK it's a 'cuda, but your guess is as good as mine - which was a Mongoose Iboc Comp SX. Identical in every way but the chainstay yoke. Prob some Fairly Taiwan built Genericus Maximus....nice, though. Ta all.
