Dirt Disciple
Hi folks.

I had a day off today, felt bored, so I went in the shed and started stripped down my old 93(?) Kona Hahanna. Managed to completely strip it and then took it to a local powder coating place for a new paint job.

Will post some pics as the job progresses....

Thanks guys!

Looking forward to seeing how yours comes along. I'm starting my own similar project but will just be replacing decals. There is some surface rust on mine but it's just going to be a bike to keep at the in laws in the Forest Of Dean for fire road blasts so no need for perfection:

NOOOOooooo! it's the best looking kona paintjob ever! (it is 93, I have a fire mountain and Kilauea).

But, as it's a lowly Hahannah, i'll let you, so long as you treat yourself to a 93 cindercone or similar :)

Re:

Well, the steel Kona is back from M&R finishing Nottingham - £60 for complete strip, zinc coat and then satin effect powder coat in two colours. Very pleased with the quality!

Right folks - help me out!

I am buying new wheels and components for this bike - not so bothered about authentic retro components for this one. Any advice on the best options for a groupset? Was hoping to go for something like SLX with 7/8 speed at the back and a single ring up front? Can I make this work on an old frame with newer components?

Yes, you can run more moden groupsets on the older frames. LX is a good solid set and cheap enough, if your going more modern XT can be cheap too.
