Interested to know what individuals do to remove surface corrosion from aluminium, like spoke nipple's, seatposts etc. Also steel bolts that develop rust, do you just replace?

Wire brush, wire wool, metal polish.
Bolts, if too far gone then I just replace, although you could clean off rust and touch up with paint (spray paint or touch up paint).
Don't know if old tricks like leaving the bolts in vinegar or coca cola work, might have to give it a try
