Terrible canti cable run - tiny clickwork

I finally finished the clockwork today (pics will follow). After spending an age setting up the front xt canti brake using the pace rocker (rc35 mx?) I set about the rear.

Due to the frame size there isn't room for a frame mounted canti bridge, so the guys at orange came up with some bit of metal that slips between the seat post clamp. Problem is, it means that the cable has to go up and over the frame, creating an ugly bit of cable. It also means that the straddle cable is not on the same plane as the brakes and sits higher/upwards of the brakes/stays.

I can't help but think there is a better way of doing this. Flipping the bit of metal (ok, it's more than that, has a cable clamp and a spring/bolt to allow a bit of alignment against the frame) doesn't help as the cable stop point upwards.

Anyone come up with or know of a better solution?

Here's a pic before the rebuild. I've replaced all the cables with new ones, but the rear cable run is the same and this pic illustrates what I mean perfectly:

Re:

Tektro do a seat clamp cable hanger you can get from wiggle which might give a better line.

However its a clamp. I cant see clearly from your picture if you have a separate clamp or the seat post clamps are welded to the post.

Paul components do a nicer much more expensive cable hanger which can go above a integrated clamp. But the line may not be improved.

There also a surly one that'll slot onto your seat clamp bolt if there's space. That'll sit lower than the existing one.

Or you could try a "kona dog collar" depending on the tube size. You'd have to flip the collar and run a thin cable guide from the front cable stop I think but it'll probably give the best line.

Agreed that's dreadful! Can you fit a Pace style rocker to the rear also? I cannot remember where the drillings are on the seatstay wishbone.

V's is the simplest solution, however I know from my 15.5" P7 that the cable end stop on the top tube is in precisely the wrong place for a cable to a V noodle.

better illustration of my first recommendation. if it works for you PM with your addy and i'll forward the silver hanger piece i have. ;)
