Hi I'm andy and I have just bought a lovely 1989/90 Raleigh montage and I'm amazed at how nippy it is but I feel the bar stem is too long and is giving me numb hands leading to pins and needles.

After 2 attempts I am still trying to locate a 21mm short reach bar stem(22.2mm doesn't fit), I have tried eBay with no luck, can anyone help me with my rather uncomfortable dilemma please!

Andy from leicestershire.

Get some different grips on it
Welcome to retro heaven , ffs where's all the money gone . Com
Yes Raleigh things are nice , a bike to ride
The best thing to do stem wise is get a quill adaptor , SjS cycles amongst others do them and fit your stem of choice to it

Re:

It's not the grips, I have had a few mtb's and I am a road rider and I prefer a more sit up and beg riding position hence the shorter stem is better for me.

I have found what you suggested and that now gives me the threadless upgrade option so thankyou for that!
