Diamondback Apex 1992 / too big for me? Too pricey?

Ax25

Dirt Disciple
Hi everyone, i am able to get this beauty.
A diamondback Apex 1992 Black and green in mint condition.
For what I can see in the pictures, even the tires and seat seem to me to be original.
The seller doesnt know too much about bicycles, he claims the bike size is 21" but the 1992 DB catalog clearly says that this model only came in 20" or 22" sizes.
I am 5'11" and I wanted to know if this frame would fit me right.
By the way , the price tag on this bike is 100£
Is that fair?
Thank you for your time and answers

Price is very good IMHO if the condition is as described. Size wise though I think it's the 22" and it would be too big for someone 5'11" if you intend off-roading on it.

Re:

I'd say the price is decent without being a huge bargain unless it really is box fresh. Size wise it probably is too big but worth getting and having a few goes on it as you can always get your money back selling on here if it's the wrong size. Just don't go asking £500. ;)

How 5all is the seller? Might be worth figuring out how much you'd need to lower the saddle by. I'm around the same height and have found that some 20inch frames are the right size, some are too big, though 20 is as big as I'd go, anything else would be too big for me.

Hey fired! I was planning to take it off roading, but I guess i will have to let it pass :(
I started this thread because i know vintage mtb had different geometry , and maybe it was my right size , thanks for your answer

Hi Brock! I dont think it is in that good condition as box fresh, you can see it has some corrotion on the chain .
The problem is that the bicycle is pretty far from where I am and I would have to pay £20 extra for shipping.
I could sell it like you say, but im from México :?
That is a issue no?

Hello Trek!
20" is too big for me?
Because of the geometry of Diamondback?
My only “vintage” bike is a 1990 Mongoose Iboc Sport
It has shimano exage 300lx group and it is made of tange chromoly db , it has a 20" seat tube lenght, 22" top tube lenght and 29" standover height and it feels really small ,
Thats why I thought I could go bigger in a vintage mtb geometry , im 1.80 m , I think thats 5'11" right?
Or what im not seeing?

This is my 1990 Mongoose Iboc Sport,
This bike got me hooked to the retro Bikes
Its around the time John Tomac was racing for Mongoose , he had one in titanium

It is a 20" and i feel it is small for me,
In a modern mt bike i use 18.5 size

If top tube length fits you, all is good.
But try a smaller frame if you can and see if you like it. Especially if you intend off-roading!

That bike looks sweet by the way :)
