Suntour thumbshifters compatible with Shimano cassettes?

Are Suntour thumbshifters compatible with Shimano cassettes? I've always liked the look of the last generation of the 8 speed Suntour ones, but have never bought a set yet, for fear of never being able to get the indexing right.

Kona did it as standard around 94 - 95 on their higher end models.

Agreed, my 94 Kona explosif came with xc pro thumbies and shimano cassette, still running it today, no issues.
