Bought this on fleabay and was surprised that there seem to be no identifying marks on it saying M900. It was advertised as new old stock but without the box and packaging. How do I confirm it's legit?

Re:

It is legit as it has the mottled 'champagne' (dull brownish colour that is bumpy and peals off a bit)
It is a later model as it's rivited. 12-32 spider.
Not the very latest as I cannot see the -I rear profiling.

No other looks like it, closest is M737 but that is compact (11T) and shiney chromed style silver.

Thank you. There seems to be quite a bit of variation in these things from the forum search results I was reading.

Re:

There are two basic types, the 12-28 and 12-32. Both use a different spider.

Then there is the original 'crank bolt and screwed on' style. These fall apart when riding.
Then there is the one rivited style like the m737 had and all subsequent spiders from xt and xtr.
Right at the end when Shimano brought out the IG system with ramping and profiling for down shifting (profiling on the reverse of the cogs) I think when they started still as M900 when M950 came out. Could check on that.

Notice also (I was surprised), that M900's were screved or riveted
