RetroCollector

Dirt Disciple
I am truly sad to say that my beloved collection of retro mountain bikes and the Mrs bike have been stolen in the night on Friday. The whole thing is strange they thiefs/theif went to a lot of trouble to steal this collection. Then decided to leave my daughters little pepper pig bike and a super v frame behind but closed and locked up afterwards. Also they could have had a pristine ultra low mileage sierra which was unlocked and covered in the garage but they didn't even lift the cover off the car to look??.

HERE IS THE LIST: 1) 1997 Red Cannondale F700 Volvo
2) 1997 Yellow Cannondale Super V900
3) 1997 Yellow Team Giant Martin Hawyes Trials Bike
4) 1997 Specialized FSR Ground Control Blue
5) 2001 GT Avalanche 0.0 Red
6) 2007 Carrera Kracken " Mrs cheapy bike"

I wanted the bikes I had since I was a teenager and could not afford them back then. But now as a grown man I felt get back on the saddle and own and ride everything I ever wanted I am utterly devastated that they are gone.

I hope they are found.

Re:

Why can't we have a sub section here somewhere so people to list their stolen bikes with photos and spec sheets?

Got to be better than nothing.

Re:

Yikes - a few bikes having been stolen, recently. It sucks.

Back when I was still in my teen years, I had worked and worked and saved my coin, and purchased myself a brand new, 1974 Honda CB750f in dark green color. Man - I loved that bike. That bike was a part of me, and I a part of it. A year and a half of memories and adventure and thrills and chills ...

But, I was too broke to afford full coverage insurance, so rode with the basic. And then ... it was stolen - BAM - just like that.

No coverage.

The bike was in near mint condition (as most of my things are), and had relatively very low kms on it. But worst thing was, it was the thing I'd worked and saved my pennies for over two years for ... all my money and equity in the world - POOF ... gone like that.

It hurt. Big time. Put me into a real funk, for months.

But, eventually, the sadness and anger and inner-conversations ( those ones inside one's head) dissipated, and I saved some more money and went and bought myself a 1977 Kawasaki KZ1000 ... which bike stayed with me for nine years. Lived through a ton of shit, it and I did.

The point of all this is ... we should never get overly attached to any physical objects, as we ain't gonna be takin em with us, in the end. Of course it sucks, BIG time, having some low-life scrote-bags rip off your stuff (and time/effort/work); but ... things are replaceable. Life, health, and one's spiritual welfare aren't.

Time heals most wounds, and memories fade over that time - even the painful ones.

I most certainly empathize with everyone who has lost a bike or bikes to a thief, and to the OP ... I hope your bikes turn up again, safe and whole.

Good luck.

Re:

How devastating...hope you get them back and justice is seen to be done. Obviously check all the local Cashconverters, Craigslist and post serial numbers on here too, if you can.

Best of luck...

Re:

Have to say putting "student bikes bournemouth" into Google pulled more hits than for Birmingham.

Also write down everything you that make your bikes unique, even though I didn't have a frame number, I had enough to convince the police one of the bikes was mine (I may get it back once the legal system has followed its course).

For insurance claims, if you kept all you eBay/web purchase confirmation emails, this can act as a great source of "receipts", long after the paper ones, and even the web records of been removed, from memory Wiggle only have the last 2-3 years listed on your account.
