Bought this tatty Flite off ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Selle-italia- ... true&rt=nc

When i got it it wasn't too bad, wear on the nose and both sides and the rear had a tear and wear.
Seemed too good to re cover and i had come across some leather filler recommended by enc on another thread so decided to order some and give it a go.

I used their instructions on line and filled in the tear pretty well.
I also ordered some of their colourant/dye for the worn patches:

Again i followed the instructions online but it's pretty simple, just sponge it on after sanding the whole saddle surface with 1200 grade sandpaper.
It took about 8 coats but when finished and left for 24 hours i'm pretty impressed with the results :D
And it is also waterproof!

What do you think?

Don't wear your favourite white lycra shorts on the first ride, just in case ;)

Seriously though, it looks good G!

Re:

The colourant is meant for use on leather car interiors and sofas etc so does not come off. I have tried rubbing it for a while with a wet cloth and nothing came off. Water just runs straight off like it's got a gortex coating!

Re:

Oh I know the stuff, they've used it on wheeler dealer!
Top tip, I'll bookmark this one. Got a couple of tatty Flites myself

Re:

Give it a go Thm.
Doesn't cost a lot, and i got 2 bottles for the price of one so plenty left. I used the dye over the whole saddle surface to get colour uniformity and sanded once, before coat 5 or 6 and the a couple more coats to finish off.

They do do different finish coats you can add afterwards, either matt, silk or gloss but i don't think i need to add one as it looks fine to me.

Do you think this would work on a small tear, or just with general scuffing? I just picked up a nice perforated Turbo, but it has a ~ half inch tear. Wondering how I might fix it.
