Tyre size question ?? 26x2.00 or 26x2.1 etc

Hi all

Looking to buy some tyres for my recently acquired Marin Eldridge. The original tyres were 26x2.00 Marin Rockstars, would replacing them with 26x2.2 or 26x2.1 make much difference ?

Hope its not another of my silly questions :facepalm:

Not much difference. Tires up to 2.1 were common BITD. Just be sure you have the chainstay and fork clearance to run them.

I've found that some modern tires have somewhat larger carcass sizes than my old stock stuff... For instance, a 26x2.0 "The Captain Sport" tire I have on my Stumpy has such a tall profile it buzzes the fork crown at full compression - Never was an issue even with 2.1's back in the mid '90's, but today it is.
