hi all

found your site as I was looking for information on my old MBK M563 mountain bike. I got the bike in 1989/90, most parts are original apart for tyres, seat post, pedals and rear rim. is it any good as I cant find anything on the internet about this model

Hi Keith, and welcome.
MBK were a French manufacturer - the cycle arm of Motobecane. They weren't overly loved over here, ( nothing wrong with them but French stuff could seem a little utilitarian compared with a lot of the american bikes with their attendant exotic imagery ) but very popular on the continent. To be honest that looks a bit later than 89 - STX gear wasn't available 'till '93 and the frame geometry looks about contemporary with that ( Around 89 - 90s very few bikes had sloping top tubes and fastback stays ) I honestly don't know about value, it all depends on the buyer really. Does the frame have a badge to say what tubing was used?

STX would put the bike at 1994 or later, as does the threadless headset. No later than 1996, though, as the brakes are still cantilevers and the chainset is still 5 bolt spider style.

hi

thanks for the replies. trying to remember when I got the bike as I have had it from new. will check frame for badge to say what tubing is. is there a way of dating the bike by frame number?

again thanks
Keith
