So to make a long story short, I hapen to egt a chanse to groop buy 6 bikes from a shop that they didnt want to repair and sell. All have some that have to be done to them the owner did say, and all did have some or parts missing. All sure need some normal TLC (like new cabels and brake shoes).
3 of the Konas was easy to find in the 1996 cataloge

1. The one that only needs a new seat is a Lava Dome, size is 19 I think.

2. Then there is a Koa, needs a new saddle as tires and a new chain. Size 18 I think

3. And a Fire Mountain that has the front brake cable holder from the fork missing and headset is loose. Saddle and tires also shoot. Size seem 19.

4. The fuort is a odd bird that I did not find in the cataloges, a Niihau. Misses rear derauller and has play in the BB. Rear hub, shifters, front derauller are STX spechal edission, front wheel is a older design hub on diffrent rim as rear, crank is a MC30 that would say 1994 but design is like the other 3 from 1996? has a later put on riser bar also. Brekes are Dia-Come XCE. Size is a 17" I think

5. The last Kona is also hard to say what year, its a Cinder Cone, has XT shifters/brake levers and other is LX (m550), hubs, deraulers brakes. Didin´t find it in one of the cataloge, even soem parts like the stem and rear tire looks like its a 1991? but speck is wrong as color. Front hub has play and right hand shifter misses bolt. Size 19

That the Konas

Re:

Nice haul of bikes!

Are you married? If you are then you better hide all those bikes somewhere ! You have definately exceeded the s-1 formula

Good find. Look to be in reasonable condition

What are your plans, keep one or two of the best and ebay the rest?

Re:

The 1995 sticker on the yellow one?
Anyway the Niihau is a Finish (only?) model and pretty much what we would call a SE or LE edition Special/Limited edition of a bike. It's an a previous years frame, could be anything but I think they would usually be the mid/high level frame ad rebadge and sold to get rid of them.

Read the serial numbers from them.

I'm sure there was a thread some many years back on one.

Nice. Reckon the third is 20"?
Well the Lawa Dome, Fire Mountain and Cinder Cone are all same size, the Koa is slightly smaller, the Niihau is a step smaller than the Koa.

You mean this thread?

Anyway, the frame number of the yellow Niihau is: F5060856, it also has some numbers stamped under the wire guard, ends whit a 8. So how do I code the number?

Re:

This bit refers to the frames made date.
Fairly (place it is made)
5 1995
06 June

If I have it right
Which would probaby make it a 1996 'model' frame, or late 1995 model year frame. There probably is little difference between them.

It does tell you it's not the high end frames though as Explosif where Hxxx for these years if I remember correctly. That and you can easily tell by looking at it.
