Just wondering if anyone has shot/silica blasted an ali frame before, and what sort of finish it gave?

Been cleaning up an old Rocky thats a bit corroded and scratched, so could do with more than a quick polish as originally planned. I could file/sand/polish etc but on a whole frame thats a shit load of work and hard to get into all crooks an nannies on estay.

So, can get silica blasted in exchange for some best larger. Worth a punt?

:? :?:

Media blasting will clean up the frame, ie remove the oxidation layer, but will not give you that brillant shine.

I would suggest media blasting followed with ball burnishing, blasting with tiny beebees, this will strengthen the frame and give you that polished look. If you choose, you can then powder coat clear over it to retain the brilliant finish.

cheers,

rody
