Seems like a bit of a cynical attempt by the makers to convince us it's something we need when we really don't.

Carl.

The dictatorship of marketing.
26" wheels are dead because obliged us to change our bike for fashion 29", and so, trashing our old bike.
But 29" didn't work. So makers prefer to create another standart for still saling bikes and for not recognizing that 29" was a nonsense…

I a few years, mountain bike will be riden with 26" wheels

If we're lucky in a few years well have mostly equal proportions of people riding different wheel sizes, the same way we have people riding different frame sizes and different stem lengths.

....surely with only 3 degrees of movement at the pivot to give 160mm of travel at the wheel means the pivot could have more stiction to overcome?

I demo'ed a Santa Cruz Bronson the other week (didn't care for it) and I fully intend to rail a Repack. I'll report back.

I have. I bought it few months ago and have watched a dozen times I know. All of my MTB idols in one spot.

I have to say I really like the look of the bike. I know that's not the point but there's something really racey looking about it. The hydroforming looks neat and necessary as opposed to cheap and bulky. Very interested to hear how it rides (minus the marketing spin).
